Below is a list of the regulations and suggestions for travel with Campus Get-Aways, predominantly determined and set forth by the airline industry. Where not determined by airlines, they are suggestions by our company based upon our vast experience with group travel--all of which are designed to make your trip more enjoyable. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office for more information.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES AND LIABILITY
  • Each passenger may bring one checked suitcase not to exceed 66 pounds.
  • One carry-on bag per passenger with maximum dimensions of 22” x 13” x 8” will be permitted in the passenger cabin provided it fits under the passenger’s seat.
  • Additional baggage will be accepted subject to space available on the aircraft.
  • Please know that as per FAA Regulations, liability for loss, damage or delay of baggage shall be limited to approximately $1,250.00. (Individual policies may vary per carrier).

Personal checked baggage that is cloth, canvas, vinyl and otherwise soft-sided will be transported. However, most airlines and Campus Get-Aways accept no responsibility or liability for damage to such baggage or its contents. To avoid snags and possible damage to your articles during the baggage handling process, please remove all removable straps.

Any claims for damaged baggage must be made immediately upon receipt of your luggage. If traveling on a scheduled service carrier, this claim must be made before you leave the airport. If traveling on a chartered aircraft, claims should be directed to your Campus Get-Aways travel representative immediately upon receipt of your bags at the hotel.

CARRY-ON BAGS

It is recommended that all persons with prescription or other vital medical requirements keep such items with them via the use of a carry-on bag of some form.

For all other persons, it is suggested that you not bring a carry-on bag onto the plan. While this is a suggestion and not a requirement, please take the following information into consideration while making your decision on whether or not to bring a carry-on bag on your flight:

  • Upon arrival in your destination city, Campus Get-Aways or the luggage truck will likely not be accessible to deposit any luggage or other items (i.e. pillows, radios) that were carried onto the airplane.
  • If any items are carried onto the airplane, you will be responsible for these items. And as most itineraries include going directly to an attraction or tour upon arrival into your destination city, you would be responsible for your bag or items until you return to the hotel at the end of your first day. (This typically means that buses or trucks would not be available to temporarily leave the items. Bottom line--you would be carrying any items brought onto the plane with you all day.)

BAGGAGE TAGS

It is important that all pieces of your luggage are clearly marked through the use of a Campus Get-Aways Baggage Tag. In many cases, these tags have been color coded for sorting purposes. Should you make a mistake or lose your tags prior to travel, it is possible but not necessary to call us for a replacement. Should this happen to you, simply use any large luggage tag that you already have or acquire inexpensively. This front of the baggage tag should include Your Name, Your Address, and Your Phone Number. The back of the tag should include the following information: Campus Get-Aways, the name of your school, and the color of your other baggage tags.

Remember, upon arrival in your destination city, your bags will be checked at the hotel and you will only receive at the end of the day. Please plan accordingly.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PACKING
  • Don’t over-pack! You will only be gone for a few days -- leave room for souvenirs
  • There is no need to bring formal clothes (Coats & ties, dresses), unless your specific itinerary involves a formal awards ceremony or dance
  • Bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a jacket or sweatshirt (mornings and evenings can be chilly)
  • If traveling to a cooler climate, be sure to bring clothes that you can layer, instead of one huge jacket. The temperature is likely to vary throughout the day and layering gives you great flexibility to stay comfortable
  • Typical of most warm climate areas (Florida or California) in the spring, you can plan on at least one brief rain shower during your trip. You can usually wait it out in a restaurant or attraction, but it helps to be prepared with a rain slicker or poncho. (A second pair of dry shoes is not a bad idea either, in case you get caught! ).
  • Don’t forget your bathing suit!
  • Don't bring your pillow. The hotel will have them for you and you can ask for more if you need them
  • Try to plan ahead and share bulky items with other people in your room (For example, all four people in a room don't need to bring their own hairdryer)
  • Don’t over-pack! You will only be gone for a few days (It is worth repeating)
